Berry Beef Ground Beef

Berry Beef, named after poet and agrarian philosopher Wendell Berry, is committed to good animal and land stewardship, and to farmers getting paid a livable wage for their hard work. Our dry-aged Angus beef is raised and processed humanely in Henry County, Kentucky. Our farms raise animals on grass and finish them on grain according to standards set by the Berry Center.

I dislike the thought that some animal has been made miserable to feed me. If I am going to eat meat, I want it to be from an animal that has lived a pleasant, uncrowded life outdoors, on bountiful pasture, with good water nearby and trees for shade.”

Item of the Day: Black Hawk Ground Beef

By | Beef, Chef's Feed, Grilling Essentials, Item of the Day, Local, Meats, The Butchery, What Chefs Want

Black Hawk Ground Beef

Black Hawk Farms is a fourth generation family farm in Western Kentucky. Their cattle are traditionally born and raised on pasture and then grain-finished using white corn, rye hay and soft red winter wheat – that they grow on their farm, free of antibiotics or hormones.

They use an eco –friendly compost barn which eliminates any negative impact to the environment. The compost barn utilizes sawdust from a local saw mill combined with what would become animal waste to create a superior mulch-like organic fertilizer that is then recycled on the farm.

This Kentucky Proud product is changing the way cattle are raised East of the Mississippi and we are pleased to offer our customers a fantastic local beef option. Through this partnership we are able to eliminate about 1,000 miles of carbon footprint!

Item of the Day: Kentucky Rose Cheese from Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese

By | Cheese, Chef's Feed, Holiday, Local and Specialty, What Chefs Want

Kentucky Rose Cheese

Kentucky Rose is many things, but at its core it is a very simple gently pressed farmhouse-style cheese with a tiny kiss of Roquefort, just to give it a floral and earthy note on the rind. Added cream creates a level of decadence that carries the experience from start to finish, but somehow amid all of the that buttery goodness this cheese remains light and airy. The briny finish is longer than you expect. There is nothing to compare it to, it is truly one of a kind! Learn more about Kenny’s Cheese here.

USDA CERTIFICATION
The Creekstone Farms Premium Black Angus Beef program is one of the few branded programs certified by the USDA. This certification ensures superior products through more stringent guidelines and on-going inspections.

HAND SELECTED BLACK ANGUS CATTLE
Black Angus cattle have long been known to create beef that is tenderer with a superior flavor. Most Black Angus programs select their cattle solely on hide color. Our cattle are hand-selected to be the best of the best and represent true Black Angus genetics. Only 1 in 100 cattle represents the Creekstone Brand!

RAISED AND GRAZED IN THE USA
Do you know where your beef and pork comes from? At Creekstone Farms we process only the finest Premium Black Angus Beef and Natural Duroc Pork, all born and bred in the USA. Not Mexico or Canada. So that means not only do we support local farms, but we also ensure our beef and pork has met some the most rigid food safety standards anywhere.

HUMANE ANIMAL TREATMENT
One of the things we know is that Humanely Treated animals produce superior tasting and more tender beef. Every step of the way-from birth to processing, we ensure our animals are handled compassionately and humanely. In fact, our beef processing plant was designed with animal welfare in mind by Dr. Temple Grandin (www.templegrandin.com).

HIGH QUALITY FEED
For the majority of their lives our Black Angus cattle graze on lush pasture land throughout the mid-west. Prior to processing each animal is feed a high quality corn-based feed ration that enhances meat tenderness and flavor.

STATE OF THE ART PROCESSING
Not many beef producers own a facility that processes their cattle exclusively but we do! Because we own the facility, we control every aspect of production ensuring only the highest quality products are produced to our customer’s satisfaction.
